Confidence Coaching for Low Self-Esteem in London
Confidence coaching for low self-esteem, low self-worth, having a poor self-image or a lack of self-belief are very common threads of my work. They are often the issues that underpin the primary ones that people bring to therapy. I hear many people say “One day I will get found out” as though they are not worthy of their job or their status – they cannot see that they have achieved their position. Public acknowledgement is not necessarily a guarantee of self-belief. Trying to manage the demands of a career, a relationship, family and all that the modern world throws at us when we feel insecure or lack confidence can be very challenging indeed. It is unsurprising that people can sometimes resort to addictive behaviour or anger to mask their feelings.
Accepting yourself is often easier said than done, especially if you have a background – personal and/or professional where you have not been encouraged and supported to feel good about yourself. Low self-esteem usually has a long history attached to it, stemming from early experiences with family members, school-teachers or bullies, religious or other authority figures. It can also stem from having experienced a trauma (recently or earlier in life); from feeling confused about an aspect of yourself; from feeling misunderstood; from having formed a destructive relationship. The list of reasons why you may feel lacking in self-worth is very long but all lead to the same point – that of not seeing all of who you are and not being all that you can be.
